The Whip Mix Combination Unit, designated Model D by the manufacturer, is a vacuum mixing and investing unit for the dental laboratory. It carries two drive chucks: a rear chuck turning at 1,725 rpm for high-speed vacuum mixing and investing, and a front chuck turning at 430 rpm for mixing plasters, stones, die materials, investments and alginates in larger quantities. A quarter-horsepower motor drives the low-speed chuck and a vacuum pump that Whip Mix rates at 26 to 28 inches of mercury at sea level. A vibrator is built in.
