The Cavitron BOBCAT Pro is a countertop magnetostrictive ultrasonic scaling unit from Dentsply, operating at 25 kHz for the removal of light to heavy calculus. Its handpiece is built to accept Cavitron 25K ultrasonic inserts, which interchange for different procedures, and the handpiece is fixed to its cable rather than detachable. The unit can be positioned vertically or horizontally to suit the operatory layout. Scaling is operated through a foot control, leaving the clinician’s hands free. Dentsply publishes the 115 V North American configuration of this scaler as the Gen-130 model.
