Hu-Friedy SC13/149E2 is a double-ended Columbia 13/14 universal curette supplied on the #9 EverEdge 2.0 handle. In Hu-Friedy’s catalogue the Columbia 13/14 is a universal curette design: the blade carries two cutting edges and a rounded toe, which is what allows it to be used across all tooth surfaces and to reach into narrow pockets and furcations. As a universal pattern it is used for scaling and root debridement rather than being restricted to a single tooth group. Being double-ended, opposing surfaces are reached by reversing the instrument in the hand.
